Sample Itinerary

Day 1 – Travel to Lodge

  • Fly to the Stony Mountain Lodge from Anchorage International Airport

  • Enjoy flightseeing on the way to the lodge

  • Appetizers and lodge orientation

  • Unpacking and relaxing in camp

  • Hike or other lodge activities based on weather

  • Dinner and campfire

Day 2 & Day 3

  • Breakfast

  • Daytime activities of choice – examples are fishing, hiking, mountain hiking above tree line, flying, clay shooting etc.

  • Lunch picnic for activity or served at lodge

  • Free time

  • Dinner

  • Relax by the Campfire / Games

Day 4 – Departure Day

  • All activities are dependent on weather for departure day

  • Flight back to Anchorage International Airport

    Traveling guests are requested to allow a minimum of 1 day in Anchorage prior to and after your lodge visit. This allow for possible weather delays. There are a number of tourist activities in and around Anchorage that are wonderful to see. Our travel coordinator can share all of the activities and events happening around Anchorage during your stay!

Itineraries can be customized to meet our guest preferences. Lodge stays are generally 4 days and 3 nights. There are activities to keep any outdoor enthusiast busy. Weather changes constantly and all activities and itineraries are subject to change based on weather.

Catch of the Day

At the Stony Mountain Lodge, fishing for Dolly Varden or Grayling is available all summer. Spinning rods and fly rods are available for all of our guests.

For those more adventurous fishermen who are interested in salmon fishing, a customized heli-fishing trip can be arranged for your group at the time of booking. These trips are based out of Anchorage and can be combined with a stay at the Stony Mountain Lodge.

Weather in the interior is always a factor, so these activities may vary on any given day.

Guests may bring their own fishing equipment. At Stony Mountain Lodge, we are completely outfitted with fishing equipment including hip boots that are available to guests.

Fishing Licenses

Fishing licenses are required and we will help facilitate these licenses as needed for our guests. For more information you can visit the Alaska Fish and Game website. Fishing licenses can also be purchased from the lodge.

The remote and private Stony Mountain Lodge is the perfect place for a corporate retreat. The Stony Mountain Lodge exclusively books one group at a time, so it is the perfect destination for guaranteed privacy and confidentiality. The Whiskey Jack building provides a comfortable meeting location as well as our screened in gazebo.

Best suited for groups up to 6 people. Larger groups can be accommodated at additional pricing. Come work and collaborate with your team in one of the most beautiful and remote places in Alaska!

What to Bring

At the Stony Mountain Lodge, we like being certain all guests are prepared. Weather conditions vary in this region with temperatures that can vary from 50 to 80 degrees.  Below is a list of the items you’ll need to pack if you are visiting us.

We ask that you pack light as we are limited to space and weight restrictions on our private aircraft.  Soft-sided duffel bags are best.  One can be provided at the hangar for use during your trip if you do not have one.  We will bring only what you need with us, and any additional luggage will be stored for you at our private hangar until you return to Anchorage.

  • When scheduling a tour at the lodge, be prepared for cold or warm weather. We recommend:

    • Layering clothing works best so you can add or remove layers.

    • Jeans, short sleeved t-shirts, a long-sleeved shirt, light polar fleece jacket or warm sweatshirt plus a warmer jacket.

    • Baseball cap, warmer hat and gloves for chilly mornings or evenings.

    • Comfortable hiking boots and warm socks.

    • Rain coat or poncho with hood.

    • Eye protection is mandatory for any shooting activity so bring sunglasses. If you have them, polarized glasses make it easy to see the fish in the rivers.

    • Medications and Personal care items

    • 1 pair of camp slippers like Crocs or equivalent

    • We encourage you to bring your cameras, batteries and binoculars.

    • Smart phones and iPads too!

  • When scheduling a fishing tour at the lodge, be prepared for cold and warm weather. We recommend:

    • Fishing rods – we have quality fishing rods available if you prefer.

    • Chest or Hip Waders – Felt bottom waders are prohibited in the state of Alaska. We can provide boots if needed, but please let us know your shoe size at least two weeks in advance.
